How to become a Co-ordinator

A scheme can be as big or as small as the Coordinator wishes this will generally be determined by the demand & level support offered by the schemes volunteers e.g. the larger the scheme the more support the Coordinator will need.

The following points may assist the Coordinator to develop their scheme:

  • Supplies households with stickers for doors and windows.

  • Circulates newsletters, leaflets and any equipment available like property marking kits and UV pens.

  • Passes on relevant police information on crime in the area to individual households.

  • Encourage members to inform the police quickly of suspicious and criminal incidents.

  • Keep in touch with other schemes in the area.

  • Monitor the scheme’s activities and keeps a check on vulnerable households and newcomers.

  • Welcome newcomers to the neighbourhood/area and invite them to be part of the scheme.

  • Identifies local environmental problems and reports these to the local authority.
