Cumbria Neighbourhood Watch Association

The Development of Neighbourhood Watch in Cumbria

A comment by the Vice Chairman

A revitalisation programme introduced in Kendal in 1994 has now extended to embrace the whole of Cumbria. From modest beginnings, it presently includes more than 2000 domestic neighbourhood watch schemes together with an increasing number of farm and hotel watches. This has contributed to making our county one of the safest in Britain to live, work and visit.

The responsibility for the administration and advancement of neighbourhood watch rests with the board of trustees of Cumbria neighbourhood watch association, which is both a charity and a company limited by guarantee and whose registered office is in Carlisle.

With the commitment and enthusiasm already shown by our members, we are assured that our organisation will continue to expand to benefit all the residents of Cumbria.

If you have no neighbourhood watch scheme in your locality and would be interested to receive details of how to proceed to set one up, please contact your nearest development officer.

"The vision of CNWA is that Cumbria will be an even safer place in which to live and work."
